How do I wash my wig/topper and how often?I prefer to wash my personal wigs every couple of weeks (3 to 4). It also depends on how much product (oils, or styling products) you use on your piece. If you use a lot, you might want to wash your piece more often. I wash my wigs in the sink, using lukewarmwater which I fill with a bit of sulphatefree (!) shampoo. I soak my wigs from left to right. Afterwards I refill the sink with conditioner where I only sink the end and lengths (preferably not the roots). Afterwards I rinse abundantly, making sure all the conditioner is soaked out. I carefully dry the hair in a towel. My favorite sulfate free shampoo and conditioner is Kerastase Discipline Bain Fluidéliste, with its conditioner. You can use other sulfate free shampoos, but this one does the job and smells wonderful.

What is the difference between a topper and a wig?A wig covers your full scalp, from the nape till the hairline. If you still have biohair, this will be totally covered when wearing a wig. A topper is a smaller hairpiece (comes in different measurments) that is placed on the top of your head and stays secure with clips (or a topper cap). It is smaller than a wig, which makes that there is biohair still visible in the nape and back. You can also install the topper a bit further behind the hairline so biohair around the hairline can also still be visible.

Which products do you recommend to use on my wig/topper?I really like biosilk oil, which i use every other day on the lengths of my personal piece. Just use a small amount, as it goes a long way. I also recommend the Morroccan Oil products. Before heat styling i use a heat protective spray to protect the hair. I reccommend not using too much products as it will make the wig/topper more heavy and it will need to be washed more often. I am a big fan of Mason Pearson brushes on my bio hair, but not too much for wigs/toppers. It makes the hair a bit heavy for a strange reason i prefer wide combs or brushes of this sort (see pictures). For heat styling i LOVE the steampod, i think it is a great investment if you are a wig/topper wearer. I use the smooting cream or milk before using and it makes the piece really stand out, also very good for a brushing kind of vike, like you come from the hairdressers. Highly recommended! For curls i use the T3 curling irons, but you can use each curling or straigtening iron. Just use heat protecting spray and don't hold the irons too long in the hair. The hair curls very well and stays long, so it is not neccesary to hold the iron too long.

What sort of caps do you offer? For wigs i offer lace cap wefted back, silk, or combination (silk with lace front,), medical caps. It is possible that i won't have all caps at the same time, but know that these are a possibility too for a custom order. Contact me for more info. For toppers i will offer lace toppers and silk toppers. Wigs come in sizes S-L (sometimes a XS or XL can be possible) For toppers i am looking for caps ranging from 6x7, 7x, 8x8 and 8x9.

How do I store my wig/topper?You might wonder where to store your wig when you are not wearing it. There are a lot of possibilities. There are more expensive wigdolls you can purchase, personally i went for a polystyrene foam head bought in an arts and crafts store (around 12 dollars). You can use you silkbag that is included with your purchase or you also have special wig hangers, so you can put your wig in your closet. The wig hangers are not suitable for toppers, but these can be stored on a head or in the bag.

what size do I need?TOPPERS For toppers it depends a bit on where you need most coverage and where you have your sensitive spots on your head. You have to make sure to see where your clips will be. On a 6x7 the clips will be higher on your head, which can be uncomfortable for people who have sensitive areas with thinning hair on top of the scalp (with for example alopecia androgenica). For those people if would suggest a bigger cap where the clips will be placed a bit lower. Larger bases like 7x7 or 8x8 will also give more coverage of the biohair in the back, for instance if you have short biohair i would also suggest a bigger cap. Or if your biohair is much lighter or darker than the colour of the topper a 7x7 or 8x8 will be better than a 6x7. If you have questions about which size is right for your hairsituation, send me a message. WIGS For wigs watch the video below how to measure up your head. My sizing is dependant on your circumference. If you would like more info about other measurments, please contact me. The capsize is always clearly mentioned in the description of every wig. Most of my wigs tend to follow the measurments below, but please check the description, as sometimes a wig may fall bigger or smaller. Small : 20" - 21.85" Medium: 20.85" - 22.25" Large: 22.25" - 24" Some people might have a small in most brands, but make sure to check the mediums also as they might be good for people who might have a small in other brands. Contact me if you need help with measurments.

Are there some things I need to be careful for? There are some products that you need to be careful with. For sure for blonde colors watch out with liquid sunscreen. Let it dry first on your body before laying your strands of hair over your skin. Also wash your hands well before touching your hair. If it comes in contact with still wet sunscreen some blondes might get a bit pink. Definately keep wearing sunscreen, but just be aware to let it dry and wash your hands. The same with liquid alcohol hand gels you use on your hands. For sure in covid times this is something we use abundently. Just makes sure it dries on your hands before touching your hair. I recommend also not to let the wig get too wet when it is raining. Not that it will do something with the hair, but you will have to wash the piece again after standing in the rain. so i recommend to use an umbrella. After you wash your wig or topper. For sure with lace cap wigs i recommend to let it drie on a towel without brushing it. If you really want to brush you can do it, but do it very careful. If the hair is still wet, the knots can become looser when you pull on it, so preferably let it dry without combing or do it very gentle. With silk toppers it is less dangerous, but still do it with care. I do recommend to comb the hair before wearing and when you take it of again. In between you can ofcourse also comb it when you please. I wouldn't recommend to sleep with a wig or topper. I can definately sleep with a wig, as i find it comfortable enough, but it is not that good for the hair, as it will tangle. But don't worry if you do it once in a while. Those occassional naps in the couch are totally fine ;) Swimming with wigs/toppers is not a good idea. In Winter be a bit careful with scarves. The most sensitive place for tangling is the nape area. For sure in winter the contact with sweathers or scarves can make the hair tangle in this area. Personally it doesn't botter me much, as the hair above it covers it for most parts and I always comb a bit more if necessary.

Is it ok to wear a wig if I still have biohair? No problem at all! People with or without biohair can wear wigs without a problem. I braid my biohair in a low braid and I put the braid in the cap. I don't recommend to make a chignon or bun as it will stick out a bit in the back. It is best to do a braid as that lays flatter on your head. If you still have biohair you can wear a wig without a wiggrip or silicon lining, as you can use the clips on the eartabs and the comb in the back to keep it nice and steady.

Do I need biohair to wear a topper? For a topper you do need biohair as the cap has to be clipped on hair, but mainly because your own biohair in the nape will be visible. It is always best to choose a topper that has a similar colour than your biohair (a blonde topper on a dark brunette girl will be a bit too obvious), although sometimes it is possible to have a lighter or darker topper than your biohair, as it can melt just fine in the end. Although the similarity of color is important, your biohair can be shorter than the topper. I used to wear a much longer topper than my own biohair. You will have a bit less hair in the nape and a small row of clip in extensions can make the difference seem less obvious it is definetly an option. Let me know if you would like some tips about this sort of blend. If your biohair is longer than the topper it might be obvious at first, although the topper can be cut in a way so it blends with your longer biohair, but then I advise you to visit your local hairdresser to have it cut into your bio hair.

What is the life expectancy of a wig/topper?It is always a bit difficult to say how long a wig or topper will last as it is not an exact term on it like you have with food for example. There is a major difference with synthetic pieces though. Human pieces tend to last much much longer than synthetic pieces. Synthetic wigs tend to become thicker and coarser after a month or three. You will see a big difference after a a few months and you probably have to buy another one after a couple of months as the structure becomes worse after wearing, for sure with longer pieces. Human hair stays well for a much longer time. It depends on how you care for your piece (but as it is a big purchase, normally most people tend to take care for the piece pretty well ) and how much you wear it, but i would say she should stay well for a 1 or 1.5 and sometimes 2 years. Does it mean you have to throw away your piece after this time? No it absolutely doesn't. It might be that the hair will be a bit dryer of thicker than when you bought it. There might be a bit less hair due to shredding over a longer time, but this doesn't mean you will have to buy another one. Lace cap wigs are more sensitive than silk tops (which has no lace), so it also depends on how the lace keeps up during this time.

Can I wear my wig/topper in a ponytail? You can. Toppers are actually very good for wearing low to high ponytails. For sure the smaller caps make it easy to put your hair up. It is a bit of a training to get it right at first. You have to see how the clips feel, but once you get a hand of it it is very easy to do, I actually wore my toppers up in a high ponytail or bun all the time. For wigs it is a bit more difficult to have a high ponytail, but a low to midponytail is possible. Some wigs are especially made to wear in a ponytail, such as active wigs. My lace cap wigs can be worn in a messybun (low to mid), or ponytail. But if you want to go for a very sleek look, like a sleek high ponytail, I would recommend to see if a topper could be an option. An updo for like a weddings is achievable with a toppers as well as a wig.

How does my wig/topper stay secure on my head?Toppers stay secure on the heas with clips. The first days your hair or head can feel a bit sensitive due to these clips. I found that it was a bir unfomfortable the first few days, but the feeling dissapeared completely in the first week. After that i didn't feel anymore that i was wearing something. You can also wear toppers without clips, with a sort of topper cap, this is something that i see myself selling very soon too. With wigs there are different ways. My lace cap wigs are made to be worn without glue or wig grips (if you have biohair). Some of my caps have silicon liners inside, which makes it easy to wear for people with no biohair (the silicon liner hold the wig in its place). qll of the wigs have a comb in the back and two clips on the eartabs which can keep the wig in place. If you don't want to wear clips, you can use a wig grip too. If the wig is a good fit, sometimes i wear my wig even without the clips as it stays on my head just fine without.

Does wearing helperhair damage my biohair?Clips in general can be an adjustment. I found the clips on my topper to be unfomfortable at first. But that feeling went a way after a couple of days. And then I could wear it all day. Some people are very sensitive in this area so in the beginning it can be an adjustment for some, but I think it really is a matter of time. What can be helpful to make wearing a topper more comfortable in the beginning is to use some dry shampoo on the places where you install the clips. This makes the hair less slippery and holds the clip better. In my personal experience it didn't damage my hair at all. Wigs on the other hand were not really an adjustment for me as the clips were in a less sensitive place (above the ear) for me. It really depends on personal preference, but i can advise to just give it some time to get used to. Believe me, it will be worth it.

Any tips on how to make my wig/topper undetectable?Several videos with tips and tricks will follow soon!

What do I need to do with the lace on my wig?The lace has to be cut with a small scissor very close to the hairline. Some people do it very short to the hairline. I would recommend to first do it not too close and see how you feel about it. Also for life expectancy of the lace it is better not to cut it too close. I will make a video how I cut the lace. Don't you worry it might sound stressy but it is actually pretty easy.
-
Can I cut or color my wig/topper?You can, but as you are working with a silk or lace cap I recommend to go to a hairdresser for sure. They have to make sure they don't color the cap, which can be an adjustment for hairdressers who never done it. There are some people in the US that are specialised in recolouring wigs and toppers. Let me know if you need some advise. Cutting a wig shouldn't be a problem for a regular hairdresser.

Can I wear bangs in my wig/topper?This is no problem. You can have bangs in wigs as well as in toppers. I will try to sell some precut pieces too, but you can also take your wig/topper to a hairdresser and have bangs cut into them.

Do you do custom orders?Up until very recently, we had been accepting a lot of custom orders. However, as we are a relatively small business, we found that this often interfered with the sales of our regular stock items. As such, we have decided to postpone custom orders for now and focus on our stock items. We will notify you via social media or our newsletter when custom ordering is available again.
-
I saw a hairpiece on your website and I really like it, but it is out of stock, when will it come back in stock? If you see an item that you really like, but it is out of stock, click on the ‘notify when available’ button. You can do this for as many items as you like. As soon as the item is back in stock you will receive an email. We try to regularly replenish our stock, always keeping the wishes and interests of our clients in mind, so please let us know what items you are looking for!

I live outside the EU and want to make a purchase, what should I know? All the prices on the website are inclusive of the 21 % VAT. For customers that live outside of Europe (USA, Canada …), you will not be charged VAT on the product. In the past, we had a special code for clients (PENELOPE21) to automatically remove the VAT. However, we do things differently now, and ask that you please send us a message (either by email, or through the website) to let us know what piece(s) you are interested in and we will send a personal price quote without the VAT, as well as the shipping price to your country. This price quote is free and doesn’t come with any buying obligations. Just make sure that you let us know your email address, so we can inform you about the right price. Be aware that customs do have to be paid when shipping outside the EU. However, these customs won’t be more than the 21% VAT that got taken off, so you will not be surprised by extra costs.

Do you have certain drop dates? At the moment we are putting in a lot of time and effort to find the right way to manage our production so that we will be able to offer you new pieces on a weekly basis very soon. Currently, we are listing new wigs on the website as soon as they are finished. However, we are aiming to have a strict weekly drop date by the end of April. We will notify you which specific day of the week this will be through our social media and newsletter.
